Cana in Galilee is the place where Jesus performed his first two public miracles, one, was turning water into wine at the wedding and two, was the remote healing of an official’s son in Capernaum. Although exact location of the first miracle is unclear, its commemoration is traditionally fixed at Kefer-Kenna, around 5 km north-east of Nazareth. A trip to Israel is incomplete without a visit to Jerusalem because firstly, it is celebrated as the holy city and secondly, it is capital of the country. However, the city also has a modern side that is full of restaurants, cafes and cultural life.
A heart-shaped, fresh-water lake situated in the hills of northern Israel is the picturesque Sea of Galilee. Jesus performed some of his best known miracles here, including Church of Multiplication, where he fed five thousand people fish and bread. The lake gets its water supply mainly from the Jordan River and today provides Israeli fishermen in the town of Tiberias with freshwater fish, enough to be sold commercially as well.
